EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
The Verdugo Hills Hospital Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to meet the urgent and life-threatening needs of adults and children in the community. First opened in 1972 to meet the demand for local emergency services, the hospital’s Emergency Department was significantly expanded and modernized in 2003 and today includes:
- Exceptional medical attention provided by physicians and nurses specially trained in emergency care for children and adults
- Increased capacity, effectively designed to reduce wait times
- Private consultation and triage rooms
- EDAP-certified department. EDAP (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics) means that VHH's emergency department is approved by the County of Los Angeles to receive pediatric patients from the 9-1-1 system.
- Greater accessibility for ambulance
Unlike any other hospital in the area, Verdugo Hills Hospital has ambassadors available to assist patients and their families from the moment they arrive in the Emergency Department. These ambassadors, available during the Emergency Department’s busiest times, help ensure the comfort of patients and their families by providing warm blankets, drinks, reassurance, and information about anticipated wait times and patient status.
Meet our Emergency Department staff physicians.
